HURRICANE SANDY RELIEF PATCH PROGRAM

All levels need to only complete 1 requirement

1. Donate money to an organization that is collecting funds for Hurricane Sandy. [add the donation bar to the patch to show you donated]

2. Volunteer your time to help the hurricane sandy relief program. Examples: giving out water bottles or food, cleaning up areas, passing out needed items to victims, or collecting items for the victims. [add the volunteer bar to the patch to show you volunteered]

3. Donate items you collected or purchased to the hurricane victims. Examples: Canned goods, food, blankets, clothing, diapers, baby wipes, toiletries, clothing, cleaning supplies, garbage bags, gloves, socks, ready-to-eat foods (soups, etc.), flashlights, batteries, pet food and pet supplies, snacks, etc. [add the donation bar to the patch to so you donated]

4. Adopt a troop and help them get their uniforms back in order. Gather up your extra badges, patches, and purchase NEW vests or sashes at the store. Patchwork Designs is collecting: Vests and sashes [all levels] New {nothing sewn on them}, Badges [current and old ones/you may have extras], Daisy Aprons and vests, Journey patches and pins, Membership pins/disks, Girl Scout pins and World trefoil pins. If you would like to include cards when sending in uniform donations, you are welcome to do that. Each girl completes a form of what she is missing from her vest and we pair it up with the items sent in as best as possible. As we get further into this project we may have a list for you, but for now we are collecting the above items. If you collected a large amount at an event then you should add the volunteer and donation bar as well for collecting donations and volunteering your time.]

5. Adopt a troop on your own and help them with supplies, uniforms, and any other needed items to get their troop started back up OR make a donation to the NJ or NY councils to help the scouts that were affected by the hurricane. If you collected a large amount at an event then you should add the volunteer and donation bar as well for collecting donations and volunteering your time.

6. Make a big impact and volunteer your time to get other organizations or clubs you may belong to help donate items to the hurricane relief project. Suggested groups: Book Club, school clubs, youth groups, day care centers, scout groups and stores. Stores can have a box to collect uniforms, coats or things in your area. 7. Volunteer your time to make posters or containers for monetary donations to the hurricane relief. Collect funds at a bake sale, booth sale, scouting event, schools, or other event to donate to the cause. Take all the collected funds to the bank and donate one large sum to the organization that supports the victims of hurricane sandy. Offer a certificate for the most collected and the dollar amount collected. Organizations collecting money for the victims: Girl Scout councils, Salvation Army, Red Cross, etc. [add the volunteer bar to the patch to show you volunteered to collect funds. Add the donate rocker to show you donated the funds.]

8. Adopting a troop? Order a patch to place on their new vest! My troop was adopted by Troop______in _______. You can write the troop number and state initials on the patch with a fabric marker. [Example: Troop 1693 in VA] Patch is available online for purchase. We can write the information in there for you if you want to purchase the patch and donate to the troop. Provide us with the troop number and state [typed under comments when you check out] If this is the only item you are purchasing then you will not be charged shipping when we process your order.
