Juliette Low encouraged all girls in scouting to help others during the war and afterwards. Complete an activity that assists a veteran or solider serving our country. Examples are: Creating valentines for veterans, cards for soldiers, collecting items for shoeboxes or stockings for soldiers.

Throughout the course of World War I, Juliette Low encouraged the Girl Scouts to participate in the war effort by running soup kitchens, creating care packages for soldiers, and harvesting crops, created rolled bandages, planted gardens, canned, and helped others.

In partnership with the American Red Cross, the Girl Scouts sold white flags to raise funds for the war relief on October 12, 1914.
